I don't know you but really enjoyed the book read from on a recent trip from the outskirts of Sienna and SW France to the shores of Santa Barbara. I struggled with the first third of David's book. He and his family seemed quite entitled and his writing seemed forced. It was obvious he was trying to be funny and it came off as disingenuous. However, I am so happy I stuck with it because I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book. I also loved the last chapter and his thoughts as he was ending his year traveling. I also enjoyed the "where is the family now" chapter. Very interesting read.
